As a business person who wants to improve the lives of others, Emile Mclean wants to positively influence the lives of Black people, and other people of colour. Emile sees an opportunity for career advice, financial literacy and entrepreneurship to empower people to take control of their future.
Challenge: Understand the needs of Black people and other people of colour who we believe will benefit from gaining financial literacy and learning how to use the tools of commerce to create their own business and career success, which will change their future.
Design.local
A multidisciplinary group of creators, designers, strategists, and developers that use their skills to solve design challenges with not-for-profit organizations around the world.
Challenge: Create a sustainable membership model for Design.local that will leverage the community’s ability to self-organize and self-manage, support the management and execution of design challenges, and to grow Design.local’s impact globally.
Creative Commons Canada
Creative Commons is a global non-profit organization that works to build a globally-accessible public commons of knowledge and culture. Creative Commons Canada represents the global organization in Canada, engaging with Canadian members and the public.
Challenge: Help Creative Commons Canada to gain a greater understanding of the existing and future audience to provide guidance to the organization in its mission to grow its membership and impact nationally and in contributing to the global presence of Creative Commons.
eMERGE
eMERGE is a not-for-profit organization based in Guelph - its mandate is to fight climate change through shifting Guelph and area to 100% renewable energy.
Challenge: Help eMERGE continue its fight against climate change by finding new ways to help the residents of Guelph and area reduce their energy and resource demands and keep eMERGE going despite the economic impact of COVID-19.
Maison Verte
A team of urban farmers who are concerned about food system transparency and food security.
Challenge: Design a hydroponic system for home use, that is aesthetically pleasing but also utilitarian in its ability to grow produce & collect data.
Pride Certified
Recently launched a not-for-profit corporation that is certifying businesses who are doing their best to create a sense of inclusivity.
Challenge: Create Pride Certified branding and seal of approval stamps. People of the LGBTQ+ community will be able to identify establishments that are LGBTQ+ friendly.
Artist Centre-Artist Connection
How can we connect artists and organizations in specifically Waterloo Region, to create an artist-run centre?
Challenge: Create an artist-run centre/platform for these creatives and artists alike using both digital and in the future physical locations.
Colleaga
Colleaga builds orchestrated networks of collaborative mission-based innovation programs that bring together public, academic and industrial social innovation to generate economic opportunities from collaboratively solving wicked social problems.
Challenge: Improve user experience to simplify the Colleaga experience by taking the next level of user experience simplification and improvement.

Cellular Agriculture Canada
A nationwide interdisciplinary organization with the mission to support and promote the cellular agriculture industry and research in Canada.
Challenge: Create a website update strategy for volunteers and admins where the solution will be simple and quick.
Canadian Low Income Artist & Musician Fund (CLIAMF)
A campaign created and organized by 2 individuals who want to provide support for low-income artists and musicians whose livelihoods are being affected by pandemic.
Challenge: Provide a low-cost and easily managed strategy and roadmap which will help guide the CLIAMF to raise money successfully for at-risk artists, musicians, and gig workers.
Butterfly Learning Centre
A non-profit, charitable corporation that provides child care with the vision to enrich the learning experience of all children, families and staff.
Challenge: Create a time-off process for the admin and staff where the solution will be simple, low-cost and be easily trained to staff members.
Youth Council at THEMUSEUM
A group of 13-17 year olds who meet monthly to share their diverse voices and create a project for youth by youth.
Challenge: Help youth council of THEMUSEUM develop a youth engagement strategy for the kids.
